Evaluation of Patient Doses from Verification Techniques in Image-Guided Radiotherapy (IGRT)
Original language description
The work deals with an evaluation of organ doses and effective doses from two verification techniques in image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT): from kilovoltage (kV) cone-beam CT (CBCT) scans and from pairs of orthogonal kV image projections. Both verification techniques help to improve patient setup procedure. On the other hand, using these verification techniques also causes delivering higher doses to healthy organs. Measurements of organ doses were performed at two hospitals using two different imaging systems: On-Board Imager (OBI) and X-ray Volume Imaging (XVI). Organ doses were evaluated in 27 organs for pelvis and head treatment. Measurements of organ doses were performed in an male anthropomorphic Rando phantom by means of thermoluminescent dosimeters (TLDs).Effective doses were calculated from measured organ doses using two ICRP recommendations (ICRP 60 and ICRP 103).
