Práce prokazuje nové místo tvorby kyslíkových reaktivních substancí v mitochondriích, a to mitochondriální glycerofosfát dehydrogenázu (mGPDH). Srovnání dvou flavoprotein-dependentních enzymů (mGPDH a SDH) ukazuje, že u mGPDH dochází k vyššímu úniku volných elektronů při přenosu na CoQ
