ROS generation and multiple forms of mammalian mitochondrial glycerol-3-phosphate dehydrogenase
Original language description
Mitochondrial glycerol-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (mGPDH) and succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) are important source of reactive oxygen species (ROS), but the mechanism of their production is still poorly understood. In this study we demonstrate two distinctmechanisms, with flavin being the most likely source of electron leak in SDH and coenzyme Q site in mGPDH. Furthermore, mGPDH was found to associate into homooligomers and supercomplexes capable to produce ROS similarly as the isolated enzyme itself
