Changes of cortical epileptic afterdischarges after status epilepticus in immature rats

  • Original language description

Present study demonstrates that early status epilepticus SE affects cortical excitability in time-and age -dependent manner. In short intervals after SE, duration of cortical ADs was significantly shorter in both P25 and P12 rats. Transition into limbicseizures and occurrence of recurrent seizures were delayed in both age groups. In conclusion, our data suggest that early SE leads rather to decrease of cortical excitability. Long term changes were observed only in animals exposed to SE at P25

Changes of cortical epileptic afterdischarges after status epilepticus in immature rats
