  • Original language description

This review summarizes the growing evidence showing the important role of circadian rhythms in regulating intestinal mucosa. First, the molecular timing systems of the master biological clock in brain and the peripheral intestinal clock are introduced. Second, the circadian rhythmicity of enterocyte proliferation is reviewed and finally the review is focused on the circadian clock control of the expression of digestive enzymes and intestinal nutrient and salt transporters
