Weakly alkaline trachybasalt - rhyolite series from Teplá Highland, western Bohemia - geochemical constraints.
Original language description
West Bohemian Cenozoic volcanism is formed by weakly (WAS) and strongly (SAS) alkaline series. Both represent cogenetic association of contrasting silica saturated to oversaturated and undersaturated series. According to geochemical data the WAS represent a comagmatic differentiation suite generated by medium-grade partial melting of mantle source in the course of coherent crustal assimilation and fractional crystallisation processes. High contents of SREE and enrichment in LREE along with high (La/Yb)Nratios is typical for the WAS. Salic derivatives (rhyolite and trachyte) reveal anomalous concentration of Mn, both in primary rock-forming minerals (diopside-hedenbergite, arfvedsonite, winchite, phlogopite, magnetite), and in secondary hydrothermal Mn-oxyhydroxide vein mineralisation. The presence of sulphur in cavities of trachytes indicates postmagmatic activity.
