A note on the effect of triacylglycerols of caprylic and capric acid on performance, mortality, and digestibility of nutrients in young rabbits
Original language description
Hyplus rabbits weaned at the age of 35 days were used. Rabbits of experimental groups received a diet supplemented with 10 g/kg-1 Akomed R (TAG of caprylic and capric acid).Digestibility of other dietary components, the rate of growth, feed intake and carcass yield were not significantly affected. In the feeding experiment, mortality of treated rabbits (15,7%) was significantly lower than that of control rabbits (27,8%). No effect on growth rate and shedding of Eimeria sp. oocysts was observed. It can be concluded that MCFA supplied as TAG of caprylic and capric acid in a commercially available oil significantly decreased high mortality of growing rabbits under practical field conditions, without affecting the rate of growth, feed intake and carcass yield.

Poznámka k účinku triacylglycerolů kyseliny kaprylové a kaprinové na užitkovost, úhyn a stravitelnost živin u mladých králíků
Czech description
V pokuse byli použiti králíci odstavení ve věku 35 dnů. Dieta pokusných králíků byla doplněna komerčně dostupným olejem Akomed R s obsahem triacylglycerolů kyseliny kaprylové a kaprinové v množství 10 g/kg. Vliv doplňku na stravitelnost živin byl malý. Vprovozním pokuse s 216 králíky byl v pokusné skupině zjištěn statisticky nižší úhyn (15,7%, zatímco v kontrole 27,8%). Vliv triacylglycerolů kyseliny kaprylové a kaprinové na růst pozorován nebyl.
