The nucleocytosolic and chloroplast cycle in the green chlorococcal alga Scenedesmus obliquus (Chlorophyceae, Chlorococcales) grown under various temperatures

  • Original language description

The effect of temperatures on cell cycle events in Scenedesmus obliquus was investigated. The length of the cell cycle was prolonged markedly with decreasing temperature, while the number of daughter cells per one mother cell remained unchanged. The sizeof mother cells and consequently the size of daughter cells increased with decreasing temperature. The number of nucleoids in daughter cells increased with decreasing temperature. Division of chloroplast nucleoids preceded cell nuclei division at all temperatures used. No temperature compensation, which could indicate the effect of some endogenous temperature-independent timers was observed.

Nukleocytosolický a chloroplastový cyklus u zelené řasy Scenedesmus obliquus (Chlorophyceae, Chlorofyta) rostoucí při různých teplotách

  • Czech description

Studovali jsme vliv teploty na buněčný cyklus řasy Scenedesmus obliquus.Délka cyklu se prodlužovala se snižující ce teplotou, zatímco počet dceřiných buněk na mateřskou buňku zůstal nezměněný. Velikost mateřských buněk a následně i dceřiných buněk se zvyšoval se snižující se teplotou. Delení chloroplastových nukleoidů předcházelo dělení jader při všech teplotách.
