Immediate unidirectional epigenetic reprogramming of NORs occurs independently of rDNA rearrangements in synthetic and natural forms of a polyploid species Brassica napus
Original language description
In this work we analysed chromosomal distribution, expression and epigenetic modification of ribosomal RNA (rDNA) genes in synthetic lines of Brassica napus allotetraploid. We found that the rapid epigenetic silencing of parental NORs correlates with hypermethylation of promoter regions. However, silencing seems to be independent on chromosomal aberrations involving changes in locus numbers.
