Bipyrimidine ruthenium(II) arene complexes: structure, reactivity and cytotoxicity
Original language description
We have studied and contrasted the chemical reactivity of a series of organometallic RuII complexes of the type [(?6-arene)Ru(N,N?)X][PF6] containing an N,N chelating ligand, as well as various arenes, and different halildes (X). Calf thymus DNA interactions for [(?6-p-cym)Ru(bpm)Cl][PF6] and [(?6-p-cym)Ru(phen)Cl][PF6] (cym=para cymene, bpm=2,2-bipyrimidine, phen=1,10-phenanthroline) consist of weak coordinative, intercalative and monofunctional coordination. Binding to biomolecules such as glutationemay play a role in deactivating the bpm complexes.
