Working under a dream boss? An intersectional analysis of the gendered nature of workplace bullying
Original language description
In this presentation we look at how intersectional analysis can be used to make visible the gendered nature of workplace bullying. Drawing on multiple-case studies of women academics who became targets of bullying in Czech academia, we show how the intersecting categories of gender, sexuality, age, and stages in the life cycle make young women academics particularly vulnerable to being bullied. The data for this analysis were taken from a larger research into workplace bullying in Czech higher educationconducted by the first author. Our analysis is located in the specific historical and socio-political contexts of the current reforms of Czech higher education and the related shift towards the increasing productivity demands, competitiveness, and the individualization of academic failure and success.
