Volume, Material and „Something Else”: Sudek as Engaged Observer of a Turning Point in Modern Czech Sculpture
Original language description
The chapter discusses the collaboration of photographer Josef Sudek with two artists who became his close friends. Looking at Sudek’s work on commission for two of his contemporaries – the sculptors Hana Wichterlová and Josef Wagner – it demonstrates how, over time, Sudek’s manner of interpreting photographed objects evolved. Via this example, it shows the broad spectrum of relationships between photography and sculpture, ranging from reproduction and photography commissions to independent artistic photography.
