Original language description

Chicken testicular cells, including spermatogonia, transplanted into the testes of recipient cockerels sterilized by gamma irradiation repopulate the seminiferous epithelium and resume the exogenous spermatogenesis. This procedure could be used to introduce genetic modifications into the male germ line and generate transgenic chickens. In this study, we present a successful retroviral infection of chicken testicular cells and consequent transduction of the retroviral vector into the sperm of recipient cockerels.

Czech description

Směs testikulárních kuřecích buněk obsahující spermatogoniální kmenové buňky může být transplantována do varlat kohoutů, kteří byli předtím strilisováni ozářením. Spermiogenní epitel příjemce je repopulován buňkami dárce a obnoví se spermatogenese. Tentopostup lze použít k zavádění genetických změn do samčí germinální linie a při transgenesi u kuřat. V naší práci popisujeme úspěšnou infekci kuřecích testikulárních buněk retrovirovým vektorem, jejich transplantaci a transdukci vektoru do spermií kohoutů-příjemců.
