Adult mammalian neural stem cells and neurogenesis
Original language description
In the adult mammalian brain, neural stem cells persist in the ventricular-subventricular zone and the subgranular zone of the brain. Most of the findings on NSC behavior derive from studies in rodent models, and the knowledge about NSCs in human brain is still very limited. In this review we summarize the topic of neural stem cell heterogeneity and, in addition, we also discuss controversies regarding neurogenesis in the adult human brain.
