The existence of unlicensed literary circulation in Central and Eastern Europe after the Second World War was a consequence of the spread of the Cold War on the cultural front. The ideological, political, and economic limitations of establishing samizdat circulation also influenced the range of translated literary outputs. These conditions multiplied the functions performed by translated literature, which should complete the gap in the book market and introduce intellectual values that disappeared in the monocultural official literary production. It led to the situation when samizdat activists in particular countries developed their cannons of translated literature.nThe mentioned limitations influenced choices of translations from different languages and areas of intellectual activities of potential receivers – Literature, Philosophy, Political Sciences, Economy, History. In terms of following the process of establishing unlicensed cannon in the national literary circulation system, the attention will be focused on the trajectories of transfer of Polish literature translated into the Czech language and distributed in samizdat. Polish literary research of the phenomenon of unlicensed circulation of translations of Czech literature already brought significant outputs and observations of motivations of particular literary works, ways, and agents of its distribution, and range of reception among receivers. It raises the question how to approach the same features in the context of smuggling and distribution of Polish literature in Czechoslovakia from the comparative perspective.nThe attempt to provide such comparison will be based on the proceedings from the bibliographical database of Czech Literary Samizdat (both books and periodicals entries) in the context of the appearance of translations of Polish written texts and paths of their spreading. The attention will be devoted to the gradual establishment of networks of samizdat activists from both countries (individuals and agencies) in the late 1980s, with the corresponding visualization of the available bibliographical datasets (in Nodegoat).
