Microscopic morphology of epithelial cells on functionalized diamond and glass
Original language description
Nanocrystalline diamond (NCD) coatings are used in the biotechnology and medicine because of their biocompatibility [1] and great potential to influence cell behavior by surface termination [2]. NCD coatings from linear antenna microwave plasma enhancedchemical vapor deposition (MW PECVD) system [3,4] can be deposited uniformly over large areas and with good adhesion on 3D objects such as cardiovascular stainless steel stents and thus improve the acceptance of stents by body. In this work we study morphology and adhesion of epithelial cells on the NCD coatings to evaluate their applicability for such medical uses.
