Stabilization in the eye of a cyclone
Original language description
We give a mathematically rigorous treatment of the stability problem of a heavy probe attached to a strongly nonequilibrium reservoir made of diffusive particles driven by rotationally symmetric nonconservative forces. We prove that the driving force generally enhances the stability at the symmetric fixed point, and this way it can induce a transition between equilibrium unstability nonequilibrium stability regimes. This effect emerges beyond linear order around equilibrium and it is shown to be robust for a large class of rotational profiles
