Original language description
The structure determinations of phases (II) and (III) of barium dicalcium hexakis(propanoate) {or poly[hexa- 4-propanoato-bariumdicalcium], [BaCa2- (C3H5O2)6]n} are reported at 240 and 130 K. The change in the environment of Ba2+ of the phase transition (I)-> (II) is responsible for the first order character of the phase transition. The second order character of the phase transition (II)->(III) is due to the ordering of the disordered ethyl chains.
