Influence of Rheological Effects on Long-term Longitudinal Displacements of Integral Bridge Abutments in Time
Original language description
The paper is focused on displacements of the end abutments of integral bridges, caused by long-term effects. Such bridges are popular due to elimination of bridge bearings and expansion joints. Because of that, their maintenance should be easier and cheaper. Nevertheless, problems related to longitudinal displacements of the end supports due to creep and shrinkage of concrete as well as due to thermal changes have to be solved. Consequently, the soil-structure interaction and arrangement of transition areas have to be solved too.
