MONITORING OF WATER QUALITY IN CONDUIT REGULATORS USED TO CAPTURE THE RUNOFF FROM HIGHWAYS

  • Original language description

The ever-growing transportation infrastructure and traffic amount on various types of roads cause a great risk of surface water pollution and also groundwater pollution. Rainwater pollution by traffic may be caused by car crashes, leakage of fuel, engineoil and other fluids, abrading of tires and surface layers of roads. Currently, six reservoirs are monitored which are used to capture the runoff from the highway circuit around Prague (section 512, R1, Jesenice - D1). Polluted water from the monitoredlocality is captured into sedimentation reservoirs, where some pre-cleaning takes place, then it continues into conduit regulators, which empty into a recipient.
