Identification of a wrongly assigned ground control point

  • Original language description

The article describes one of the problematic aspects of georeferencing old maps, which is to identify poorly assigned control point. When individual transformation methods are used, it is always advisable to use an appropriate procedure and identify thispoorly assigned control point. Very often, there occurs that the point is suspected to be wrongly assigned. Anyway, suspected control point must not be poorly assigned in all cases. The error could be caused by the author himself. The determination, that a suspected control point is poorly assigned, is very difficult and mostly depends on the experience of a cartographer. When the global transformation methods (similarity, affine or polynomial transformation) are used, the point can be detected by itscomputed standard deviation. Another possibility is to find it by visual inspection of control points? transformation vectors. Alternatively, suspected control point can be identified by eliminating one point from the transformation key a
