This work deals with monitoring of the impact of junction of surface runoff from roads on the quality of water environment in the recipients near roads and highways. At the Prague Circuit the runoff is retained in water tanks, where a part of contaminants are captured, and then the tanks are emptied into small watercourses. Water and sediment samples are taken from water tanks and from recipients, into which the tanks are emptied. Sampling is carried out in two points of the recipients: one above and the second below the junction of the tanks, so that it is possible to observe the impact of road runoff retained in water tanks on the recipients. Basic chemical indicators of water are analyzed (pH, conductivity, ammonium nitrogen, chemical oxygen demand,nitrate nitrogen, nitrite nitrogen, phosphate phosphorus, sulphates, chlorides), and also microbiological indicators (coliform bacteria, E. coli) and the heavy metals concentration (Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb, Zn, Hg).
