Examples of using RPAS
Original language description
RPAS has become a very useful tool in many areas. At the Czech Technical University in Prague, RPAS is used for mapping, archaeological surveying, and determining the volumes and the monitoring of the biosphere. In this paper, the different projects are presented in which RPAS was used as the main data source. For mapping small areas RPAS is a very useful tool. Orthophoto is the base for mapping. The GSD (ground sampling distance) of the orthophoto is usually within a few cm, which is sufficient for accurate mapping. The Digital surface model is used to determine the volume of refuse dumps, or their changes. For archaeological survey, orthophotos are usually used and digital surface models to de-tect debris objects. Utilizing infrared cameras together with visible spectral range cameras, it can monitor the biosphere (NDVI index). Special flights with a thermal infrared camera were performed – from these projects, thermal activity of dumps were documented, in-cluding the exploration and documenting roof insulation properties and thermal activity of landscape. These projects demonstrate the wide use RPAS as a tool for data collection and its advantages over classical geodetic measurements.
