An attempt to explain problems with applicability of bearing plate test (Ev2) in mechanically stabilized layers with stiff geogrids
Original language description
Bearing plate test (Ev2) is very popular in geotechnics for determination of bearing capacity in respect to roads and railways, too. Application of that method in case of mechanical stabilization with stiff geogrids is rather disputable what is confirmed by practical experience. Explanation of the mechanism of interaction of stone with stiff geogrids and consequent mechanical structure of the stabilized layer is the base for understanding the mechanisms. The analysis of a combination of various structural combination is presented. A comparison with FEM models is included. The need for looking for different approach in case of the presence of stiff geogrid in the structure is defined.
