Simulation of Supercharged and Turbocharged Small Spark-Ignition Engine
Original language description
Improvements of fuel consumption can be gained through engine downsizing. It is necessary to provide a corresponding increase in power to maintain or improve vehicle performance. The paper deals with comparing two possibilities - supercharging and turbocharging of a small SI-engine. Supercharging is provided by mechanical connection between engine and supercharger with constant gear ratio. Suitable control system is chosen from several concepts of throttling and by-passing intake air. Turbocharging usessmall turbocharger without variable geometry. Regulation is made by common waste-gate and by throttling after compressor.
