The axial-flow impellers pumping downwards to the bottom are used for particle suspension. Very important parameters for designing of mixing apparatuses for suspensions are the critical (just-suspended) impeller speed and power consumption necessary foroff-bottom suspension of solid particles. This paper deals with particle suspension in agitated vessels. Experiments were carried out with pitched blade turbines with diagonally folded blades with various blade number in cylindrical vessel with dished bottom for mean volumetric concentrations of solid phase in the range from 2,5 % to 15 %. Results of suspension measurements were evaluated in the form of dimensionless suspension characteristics. The coefficients in correlation of suspension characteristic depend on mean volumetric concentrations of solid phase. These dependencies and correlation of suspension characteristics are presented in full text of this contribution. On this basis the final correlation for computation of just-susp.
