Local Velocities and Hydrodynamic Characteristics of Particles and Fluid in a Fluidised Bed Measured with LDA/PDA
Original language description
Fluidisation, mixing, crystallisation and other industrial process are those for which is a relative motion between a suspended solid particles and fluid very important parameter. Settling hindered by turbulent eddies was not yet theoretically described. Our previous measurements on mixing apparatus indicated some restriction in settling velocity but flow in agitated vessel is three-dimensional complicated problem. Therefore we decided to investigate this problem in vertical pipe. The first step were visual measurements supported with flow record. More accurate method seems to measure the local velocities with LDA/PDA (Laser Doppler Anemometry / Particle Dynamics Analysis). This method is simple and non-invasive.
