Tribological Characteristics of Duplex Treated Ledeburitic Steels

Original language description

The different ledeburitic tool steels made by powder metallurgy were plasma nitrided and duplex-coated at various combinations of processing parameters. The wear resistance of the non-nitrided, PVD coated and duplex-coated steel surface was examined by the ring-on-plate, tribological tester. The optimal conditions of the plasma nitriding from the point of view of the wear resistance were established. Effect of subsequent PVD - coating realised on plasma nitrided specimens can be considered as very positive when the specimens were heavily loaded.
