This paper presents proposals for control structures of voltage controller in an electrical power splitter used in a hybrid traction propulsion system. The electrical power splitter is a special construction of a permanent magnet synchronous motor. Specific problems in this area are discussed, like the necessity to control in a very broad range of input voltage frequencies, power splitter output power limitations and the necessity to significantly boost the DC output voltage. The control structure contains both full magnetic flux modes and magnetic flux weakening modes as well. A description of an experimental system with electrical power splitter - pulse rectifier - load and experimentally obtained results are shown.
