A Frequency Response Evaluation Based Model-free PID Controller Tuning Method - A Method for Tuning Biomass Combustion Process Controllers
Original language description
Small-scale biomass-fired boilers have become widely used. This situation has a significant ecological impact, because these boilers are equipped with simple two-state (on/off) controllers. This means that they can only operate with a predefined setting,or the setting is switched off. The emission production is therefore not controlled. Moreover, various kinds of fuel need different boiler settings in order to ensure an optimal combustion process. Because there is no suitable model of the combustion process, only model-free controllers can be applied. Existing tuning methods are of limited use for obtaining the setting of the controller before the start of boiler operation, because they require the controller to be disconnected or its function to be significantly restricted. Because the combustion process is slow, the tuning method needs to be able to obtain the optimal controller setting without suspending the control process. A tuning method of this kind is presented here.
