Numerical Identification of Orthotropic Coefficients of the Lamella of a Bone's Osteon
Original language description
Motivated by the findings of mechanical elastic coefficients of unfolded osteon lamella, a mathematical model has been developed. The unknown elastic coefficients of an osteon lamella are computed in a special way in the continuum mechanics field from the known elastic coefficients of the cortical bone as an integral whole. Due to the fact that this problem is in the level of nanometer, it is not possible at the present time to measure these elastic coefficients of the osteon lamella with high precisionvia experimental measurement. Therefore, the values derived from the mathematical model will help, among other factors, validate the accuracy of future experimental methods.
