Original language description
This paper deals with an investigation of integrally geared centrifugal compressor impeller. The main purpose of the failure was resonance of natural frequency with excitation from inlet guide vanes. The investigation is based on Finite Element Method which was also verified by experimental modal analysis. The results show that the failure was caused by excitation of natural shape in the operation that led to high cycle fatigue failure of the impeller.
