Simulation of a Sharp Curved Track on a Roller Rig
Original language description
Roller rigs have been built world-wide to research into the dynamics of railway vehicles. These rigs have been proved as useful devices especially for basic research, for validation of new theories and verification results of computer simulations, for development of innovative designs and the optimization of vehicle components. While simulating curved track negotiation on a roller rig, wheelset have a large yaw angle with respect to the rollers. Consequently wheels of a wheelsets move off the top of rollers which is called de-crowning movement. As a results of de-crowning movement a horizontal component of the whell-roller normal force occurs and significantly influence results of roller rig experiments. The paper evaluates the effects of de-crowning movement on differences between track and roller rig run.
