    Dog Clutch Without Circular Backlash - Design Optimization Using Multi-Body Simulation

    Optimization using multi-body simulation is next step in the process of dog clutch without circular backlash development. New prototype of the clutch was manufactured and corresponding simulation model in ADAMS software was created. The simulation model was validated by comparison with real dog clutch engagement. Measured data were obtained using inertia test bench with shift robot. Two different sub-tasks are being investigated using the simulation. First one is gearshift quality regarding to various parameters – e.g. mismatch speed, gearshift force, number of dogs and their shape. Second one is adaptation of the dog clutch to gear selector mechanism with kinematic endpoints (typically sequential shifting), since this type of shifting was not initially considered during the dog clutch design.
