E-ASSISTED BOOSTING SYSTEM FOR H2 ICE
Original language description
Hydrogen internal combustion engine (H2 ICEs) powered vehicles offer the advantages of emitting zero carbon, while exploiting the existing infrastructure and the familiarity of conventional internal combustion engines. However, meeting near-zero emission targets is complicated. High AF ratios are required to limit production of NOx which requires high boost pressure. Lower exhaust gas temperatures and enthalpy makes turbo-matching complicated. To overcome these challenges, electrically assisted boosting system seems to be a reasonable solution. This paper explores advantages of e-Boosting systems utilizing comprehensive numerical analysis in 1D CFD solution GT-SUITE.
