Original language description
Microstrip patch antenna with fractal boundary defined by Koch curve is introduced. The antenna is designed to work at higher mode which exhibit localization property of the electric field close to the antenna's boundary. Such higher eigenmode results inhigher directivity. Antenna is solved in terms of the cavity model using FEM and results are refined using full-wave electromagnetic simulator IE3D. Good agreement between measurement and simulation was achieved.
