Comparison of Different Commutation Strategies of Matrix Converter

  • Original language description

This paper describes the main difference in commutation behavior of matrix converter based on the four-step and the two-step commutation algorithm. Both commutation algorithms were realized in VHDL for FPGA and were simulated in Simulink. But it was necessary to link Simulink with Modelsim that can simulate VHDL code. The new developed two-step method is two-time faster than the formerly implemented four-step method. But the cosimulation in MatLab and Modelsim has proved that it includes some limitations not respected in theoretical analysis.
