Today's robotic applications require more powerful solution to accomplish the requirements of speed, productivity and efficiency. One of the methods for a robotic unit control is to use an information from image sensors interpreted by image processing algorithms. In general the digital image processing requires powerful computational resources, nevertheless the processing task simplified by an a priori knowledge can be executed on an embedded platform (a smart camera) in the real time. The acquired information could be used for robot actuators control. Construction of a simple mobile robot platform developed for validation of image information based optical feedback regulation methods is presented in this paper. Possibilities of the optical feedback control are discussed and simple position regulation algorithm is presented.
