Towards Better Conditions for Closed Loop Identification
Original language description
In many cases the system to be identified is already operating under the presence of some kind of feedback, usually caused by operating controller. With feedback present, classical identification approaches fail miserably due to correlation between inputs and noise and a lack of excitation. Because of a number of economic, technical and lately even theoretical reasons (The system rarely operates in an open loop manner, therefore the main interest usually lies in a reasonable closed-loop performance.), the closed-loop identification becomes viable and desirable option for system identification. The paper provides a short survey of closed-loop identification approaches, that provide estimates that are, despite the closed-loop conditions, appropriate forfurther use e.g. with a model based controller. Moreover, a condition for the persistent excitation for use within the model predictive control framework is formulated and its performance illustrated on a provided case study.
