    Design of a 25 MW Superconducting Wind Turbine Generator with Axial Flux Structure

  • Original language description

    This paper presents the conceptual design of a direct drive wind turbine generator using superconductors. The generator has an axial flux structure with a single rotor and double-sided stators. The coreless or air core configuration is used for the designed axial flux superconducting generator. The field winding in the rotor utilizes superconductors, and armature windings in the stators are aluminum or copper conductors. Each side of the stators has two layers of windings with non-overlapping coils. A developed 2D analytical method and the finite element method are used for analysis and design optimization of the superconducting generator.
