    Is ASCON the best choice regarding the Side-channel Analysis?

    The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) started challenge for the new standard of lightweight encryption to meet the requirements of IoT devices. One of the requirements for the upcoming standard was resistance against side-channel attacks. This year, they chose ASCON as the winner from the final ten. In this work, we present an overview of each finalist and how ASCON stands against the other finalists regarding side-channel attacks resistance in the research to date.
