    Temperature Influence on Tm:Ho:CaF2 Spectroscopy and Laser Properties

    We have investigated the temperature influence on spectroscopic and 2.1mm laser properties of Tm:Ho:CaF2 ceramics. The results showed that by decreasing of the temperature of such laser gain medium about 100K from room temperature it is possible to increase significantly the laser performance. On the other side, the further temperature decrease can have negative effect on laser efficiency. This finding can be important for cryogenically-cooled mid-IR lasers development.
