The reliability based study of partial and combination factors for various actions and material properties concerns design methods recommended in recent Eurocode EN 1990 Basis of Structural Design. Three alternative procedures for combination of actionsprovided in EN 1990, and combination rules given in some national standards, are investigated using probability-based methods. It is shown that the alternative combination rules may lead to significantly different reliability levels of structural components. Detail investigation of a steel member is primarily focused on application of first two alternatives described by expression (6.10) and twin expressions (6.10a) and (6.10b) of EN 1990. It appears that partial factors in both cases may be adjusted toachieve required reliability level. The third alternative given by modified expression (6.10a) including permanent action only and expression (6.10b) seems to give an unacceptable solution.
