Attachments of Collagen Type I to Polypropylene.

  • Original language description

Air RF-plasma treatment followed by collagen type I attachment was appllied for polypropylene surface modification. a new biomaterial suitable for cell attachment and growth was prepared. The treated polypropylene surfaces were characterized by EPR, sessile drop contact angles, FT IR, SEM methods. Three modes of the collagen chemical modification were used for coating preparation: non-modified, periodate oxidized and glutaraldehyde crosslinked gel. Collagen was depositred on two types of the substrate surfaces: air RF-plasma treated one, and ammonia post-treated air RF-plasma preparation. Peeling strengths of the interfacial joints "polypropylene/collagen" was determined. they were ranging between 40 to 50 N/m.
