Original language description
The title compounds, also having a representative among indole alkaloids, are receiving attention because of their antibacterial activities. Recently, they have been explored as precursors of ultraviolet absorbents for polymer materials. Since the firstreport, the preparation of the title compounds is limited to the condensation of anthranilic acids with 1H-indole-2-carboxylic acid derivatives. Herein, an alternative approach that is based on Fischer indol synthesis starting from quinoline-2,4-diones was reported.
