Preparation and Potential Application of 2-(Indol-2-yl)-3,1-benzoxazin-4-ones
Original language description
This paper describes work concerning the preparation of novel benzoxazinones substituted with indole moiety by cyclodehydration of appropriate 2-(indol-2-carboxamido)benzoic acids. A novel route to these acids utilising Fischer indole synthesis has beenalso established. The Fischer reaction precursors were readily obtained from 4 hydroxyquinolin 2-ones by two-step oxidation process. All compounds were characterized by available methods of structural analysis. The original purpose of this work was to prepare a series of title compounds for future testing as ultraviolet absorbers and as additives for the stabilization of polymers. Benzoxazinones can also be useful electrophilic reagents for the synthesis of some biologically active substances. In summary, a novel entry to direct construction of 2-(indol-2-yl)-3,1-benzoxazin-4-one skeleton based on Fischer indole reaction and subsequent dehydration was developed and allows the preparation of a wide variety of substituted benzoxazinones.
