The Planning of Investment Activities in Field of Railway Transport with Support of Simulation Tools
Original language description
Investment decisions are among the most important types of corporate decisions. This task is to decide on the admission or rejection of individual investment projects prepared by the company. It is clear that the success of these projects-especially the larger ones-can significantly affect the business prosperity of the company and vice versa, their failure can cause significant problems, which can lead to the termination of the company. Financial decision-making exceeds the one-year horizon. On average, this is 5 to 10 seasons. For several years in advance, the financial management of companies is affected by the adoption, respectively. by rejecting the project. It is therefore necessary to understand investment decisions and have the most reliable treasures for it. The railway transport is one of the basic transportation systems in Europe. The quality of transport is continually require higher demands and investments. Planning of infrastructure and processes in railway transport represent quite complex problem. The simulation software represents progressive contemporary experimental technique, which can support complex processes of infrastructure planning and all of activities on it. It means that simulation experiments, reflecting various planned infrastructure variants, investigate and verify their eligibilities in relation with corresponding expected operation. The inducted approach enables to make qualified decisions about infrastructure investments or measures, which derive benefit from simulation-based verifications. The paper represents simulation software s for simulation infrastructural layout and technological activities. The first simulation tool is specialized for activities in logistic centers (marshalling yard, intermodal terminal, warehouse and combination between them as the parts of logistic center) The second one is focused on network simulations and all important points, that can be used for evaluation a investment decision. The paper will present practice examples of using this simulation tool for qualitative investment decisions
