Writing, Publishing, and Appreciating Literature : An Ethnography of Literary Practices in the European Periphery

Anotace anglicky

The project is carried out by the Oriental Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic on the one hand, and by Paris 8 Vincennes Saint Denis, on the other. On the side of the Oriental Institute, this project is based on the existing cooperation forged within the collaborative research platform Power and Strategies of Social and Political Order hosted by the Institute since 2015. Giedrė Šabasevičiūtė, Táňa Dluhošová, and Thomas Loy are part of the research group focusing on literature within the Power platform. The Oriental Institute has a shared PhD program with Charles University through the supervision by Giedrė Šabasevičiūtė of the doctoral dissertation on literary translation in 20th century Egypt conducted by a member of the project Adela Provazníková. This project is a continuation of the conversation on literary production in the periphery initiated in the conference in 2019, entitled Beyond Text. Anthropological Approaches to Literature, co-organized by Giedrė Šabasevičiūtė in Prague, as well as the panel convened in the Congress GIS Moyen-Orient et Mondes Musulmans in 2021. The Barrande mobility program would allow to consolidate these existing networks in order to elaborate a common project proposal for the ERC grant. The representative of the French side of the cooperation, Zoé Carle, is a member of Fabrique du littéraire laboratory (Fablitt) hosted by Paris 8 Vincennes Saint Denis. The cooperation between Fablitt and the Oriental Institute will allow to forge a fruitful conversation on literature by combining each team’s fields of expertise: the theoretical perspectives of literary studies of the Fablitt with the expertise in non-European contexts of cultural production of the Oriental Institute.

Zhodnocení výsledků projektu

Projekt byl realizován v rámci Aktivity MOBILITY, jejímž hlavním cílem je navázání a prohlubování kontaktů se zahraničními výzkumnými institucemi. Neprobíhá tedy kontrola dílčích výstupů projektu prostřednictvím hodnotící komise, avšak je kontrolována správnost čerpání přidělených financí a přiměřenost jejich využití.
