What Kinds of Knowledge for Technical Objects? Technical Objects as Epistemological Details in the Focus of the Philosophy and the Sociology of Science

Anotace anglicky

The aim of the project is to develop new working contacts between the members of the Czech and French research teams, taking advantage of the already started informal cooperation between Prof. Roux, Doc. Konopásek and Dr. Maršálek. Through the planned activities, the project will support the creation of a consolidated research group (or several smaller teams) that will seek to continue their research activities with the support of one of the international grant programmes. In terms of content and research expertise, the project aims to contribute to the development of the philosophy and sociology of technology, and thus to strengthen the presence of these disciplines in French academia and, in particular, in the Czech research environment. In this sense, it is a unique opportunity for the Czech research team, as it would gain a French partner from a prestigious institution (the École Normale Supérieure belongs to the elite of French academia) and colleagues with great professional experience and international reputation. The question of the types of knowledge associated with technical objects, and the question of the interconnectedness of these different types of knowledge, constitute the research axis of the project. The study of “technical objects” from the perspective of “social studies of science”, “science and technology studies” and “philosophy of science” (including the French epistemological tradition) is in itself an innovative programme in the fields represented by the members of the team. The proposed project thus carries with it a real research challenge, the proper elaboration of which the Czech-French team will seek in its activities, so that it can be continued by a follow-up research group under the auspices of one of the international grant programmes.
