Název projektu anglicky
Biomaterial-inspired stabilization of mechanical properties of thin Zn-based wires
Anotace anglicky
The objective of the project is to determine an alloying and processing concept for adjusting mechanisms of plastic deformation to maintain the dimensional stability of the Zn-based wires. Therefore, the impact of dilute additions of Mg, Ag, Cu or Mn to pure Zn on the deformation characteristics and resulting mechanical properties of thin wires manufactured by different thermo-mechanical processes, namely hot extrusion and cold wire drawing coupled with static heat treatment will be investigated. The manufacturing conditions of the proposed Zn alloys will be determined with respect to grain refinement due to recrystallization by a more controllable cold drawing procedure besides hot extrusion. The link between grain refinement due to the thermo-mechanical treatment and the established mechanical property profiles will be drawn by state-of the art characterization methods such as mechanical testing, concurrent acoustic emission detection, X- ray diffraction and state-of-the art electron microscopy methods. Data generation will include redaction for expanded use in a process-microstructure-property related machine learning environment. As such the initiative aims to combining the expertise of the two involved institutions with respect to the manufacturing and processing of metals and alloys especially in the form of thin wires with the newest state- of-the art abilities of their in-situ and ex-situ microstructural and mechanical characterization. Data generation and redaction for a process-microstructure-property related machine learning-approach is envisioned.
